Course Objectives At the end of the course, students are aimed to learn the effects of culture on health, transcultural nursing models, to provide nursing care for different cultures with the integration of cultural competence into nursing education and practice.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • describe transcultural nursing,
  • explain the effects of culture on health and disease,
  • list transcultural nursing models and their uses,
  • describe cultural competence and development process,
  • interpret the results of the cultural competence development process,
  • explain cultural knowledge, awareness and sensitivity.
Course Description This course covers the concepts of health, disease and culture, cultural heritage in health, cultural behavior in health, communication between patient relatives and health workers in different cultures, experiencing a disease according to different cultures, transcultural nursing concept, transcultural care approach.
